Women’s boxing just went Kaboom!

When I was growing up in the 80s and 90s women’s sport always played second fiddle to the mens’ game. The women’s final at Wimbledon was in the shadow of the mens final. Womens football was a cute little afterthought. And women’s boxing, well that wasn’t really a thing.
And then along come Venus and Serna Williams and if anybody is bringing football home it is going to be the Lionesses. And then last night Katy Taylor and Chantelle Cameron proved that in terms of skill, power, dynamism and sheer bloody headed unrelenting grit women’s boxing has just as much to offer as the mens fight game.
Last night’s highly anticipated bout always promised an evening of intense action and fierce competition. But the two fighters went above and beyond.
